Fitzgerald was a gin fan. The bohemian legend says that Gin Rickey was his favorite drink and, despite his problems with alcohol, a beautiful inspiration. Apparently, his passion for gin resided in the belief that he could not detect the drink by the breath – which is not true, but we have to agree that it is much lighter than when you drink beer, for example. Thus, Fitzgerald, a party-goer and part of the crowd who made Paris a party at the beginning of the last century, managed to give a disguise at night.
Gin Rickey can even be made with other drinks, such as rum, and bring sugary syrup or grapefruit juice, but we got even with this simple recipe from Esquire Magazine, almost a Gin Tonic that we love:
First you take a drink, then the drink takes a drink, then the drink takes you.
F. Scott Fitzgerald
Gin Rickey
- 75 ml of gin
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- a touch of club soda

To pack your lonely nights, provide the classic The Great Gatsby, written by the author and has won two versions in the movies. The life and love story of a mysterious millionaire in the late 1920s was experienced by Leonardo di Caprio in 2013, but worth looking at an older version starring in the 1970s by Mia Farrow and Robert Redford.
